How our method works
Every child starts from a different place.
Some children are discovering Spanish for the very first time. Others already understand Spanish but hesitate to use it, reply in English or need more confidence expressing themselves.
At Bilingual Roots Academy, we meet children at their starting point and guide them forward through structured age-appropriate learning.

Children learn best when language has meaning, structure and opportunities to be used.
For beginners, that means building understanding and first words with support. For children who already know some Spanish, it means turning what they understand into increasingly confident communication.

A Clear Path Forward
Our method is built around three progressive stages that help children build Spanish from their individual starting point.
1. Explorers
Children build understanding and begin using Spanish with support.
•First words and key vocabulary.・
• Simple choice-based questions.
•One-word responses.
•Confidence using familiar language.
2. Builders
Children start combining words into phrases.
•Use of basic sentence structures (e.g., “quiero ___”)
•Short phrases
•Focus on verbs and sentence patterns
3. Storytellers
Children express ideas more independently.
•Sentence expansion
•Responding to open-ended questions
•Building confidence in speaking
How we help children to speak
We don’t wait for children to speak — we actively guide them step by step.
In every session, we use:
• Simple choice-based questions
• Sentence frames (e.g., “quiero ___”)
• Guided repetition in different contexts
From understanding and first words to increasingly independent communication - step by step.

Each session follows a clear structure:
• Review of familiar language
• Introduction of new words
• Guided speaking practice
• Repetition through games and activities
• Positive closing

With consistent exposure and practice, many children:

The Role of the Family
Small, consistent moments at home make a big difference.
Families receive simple guidance to reinforce Spanish through everyday routines and shared experiences.
You don't need to speak Spanish to support your child.
Families who are new to Spanish can learn and practice together, while Spanish-speaking families can use the same guidance to create more opportunities for meaningful language use at home.
